Next workshop to be held on       June 22, 2008

A huge thank you to all the friends of Christine S. who held a special workshop in her honor on April 27th.  It was a big success!

Please read  below about the project and the workshops we have held. Be sure to check out our card galleries to see what these beautiful hearts and hands have created.

Information about the Project

The Cards for Cancer outreach project was born from Marcia's personal journey with cancer and the journey she took with her mother.  For more information, read Marcia's story

Cards for Cancer workshops are held on an ongoing basis.     Participants sponsor cards at $1.00 per card, and donate their time to make  cards and bookmarks that are donated to oncology practices and cancer support organizations.  Cards are also provided free of charge to anyone that needs one for a cancer patient in their life. Those who wish to help financially can provide sponsorship of $1 per card, and we'll find the volunteers to make the cards.   Contact us for more information.

Sponorship opportunities are explained below and here.

Please pass along the website address to anyone who may need, or want to send a card.

Some of the e-mails we have recievied

We wanted to share some of the kind words we have received:

From a Breast Health Navigator at a local hospital: "I was at a high school yesterday teaching breast health.  When I came in this morning your box was here!!!  I showed everyone here at the Cancer Institute!!  I told them it was like Christmas in Nov.!!!!  They are just perfect and BEAUTIFUL!!!  I will share them with the other girls here who do see cancer patients, but I know the women I serve and help on their journey will be very appreciative of all the work YOU have done.  You do have an idea of what those words you have sent will mean, so I won't tell you "you don't"!!   I can't thank you enough.  I would like to send you some card stock and possibly other things I have, that have been donated, that would help you on your mission to help others.   Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!  I just love them. "

"I have a friend we were visiting today who has cervcial cancer for the 2nd time and is going through chemo again.  She had us look at a card she had received and lo and behold it had your name on the back of it. ...and was just a wonderful card with the saying it had!!!  You have to know how it brightened her day whern she received it from the place she used to work... and then showing it to us today she just lit up.  What a wondereful gift you have started."

"Thank You so much Marcia. I'm hoping this will brighten his day a little. Anything to do with strength or courage would be fine. There is one in particular that I liked though. It talked about all the things cancer couldn't take from you. I would really appreciate it if you could send that one as well. I think what you are doing with these cards is a wonderful thing. You don't even know me, yet you are willing to send me the cards without question. I really Thank You for that. "

October 2007 - Think Pink Workshop

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and means a lot to me since I am a breast cancer survivor.  Fifteen beautiful women came together to make nine different PINK projects.  Check out the photos in the Think Pink Card Gallery.  In addition, our project  received  all the cards submitted to the October cardmaking contest at Lizzie Anne Designs.    THANK YOU LIZZIE ANNE DESIGNERS.  The cards are beautiful.

Cards for Cancer  workshops continue to be a success!

With the help of generous people providing financial support and the gift of their time, we have created 800 cards and 100 bookmarks for cancer patients.  This mission project keeps growing and touching people across the county.  The response from the cardmaking community on Splitcoaststampers has deeply touched me. Read below about some of the people and companies that are behind this project.  Thank you is such a little word.
